Computers - Technology / Zune DRM Cracked!
« on: July 15, 2007, 03:45:40 am »
a program that strips DRM off of tracks purchased from the Zune Marketplace, or traded via Wi-Fi has been released. What makes this more significant is the optional Zune subscription which allows users to download almost all the Zune Marketplace, and then remove the DRM.

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=127943

first run 'mirakagi.exe' to read your keys.. then run FairUse4Wm.exe to unprotect the content you'd like stripped.

EDIT:   yes, it works. incredibly well. removing the DRM from your files takes about .00001 seconds each.

« on: April 14, 2007, 04:32:52 am »
Alright, many of you probably did not know this, but apparently there has been a global ninja invasion. These invading ninjas have killed some people and caused some people to go homeless. Now these homeless people are deciding to stand up to the ninjas and seek their revenge. These homeless people are asking for money so that they can take karate lessons and strike back against the ninja invasion...

In an effort to bring more awarness to this ninja invasion, please post pictures here of either the ninjas themselves, or those affected by the ninja invasion....

Offbeat Relish / Sniffer dogs find second pirated-DVD haul
« on: April 02, 2007, 07:03:18 am »
KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - Two Malaysian dogs trained to sniff out DVDs have made their second big discovery of pirated movies, leading investigators to a hidden stash worth more than $430,000, a local newspaper said Sunday.

Lucky and Flo, two black Labradors, sniffed out at least 150,000 discs in a secret compartment in a shop in the capital Saturday after anti-piracy officials, acting on a tip-off, raided the place but failed to find anything, the New Sunday Times said.

"They decided to call in the canine brigade," it said. "Within minutes, the two Labrador retrievers sniffed out the hidden discs in a room that could only be accessed by the push of a button hidden under a plug outlet."

Local media say movie pirates have put a bounty on the dogs after the hounds busted a fake DVD ring last month in the southern state of Johor, sniffing out about $3 million worth of movie and game discs in their first major successful operation.

Authorities say they are treating the threat seriously and have beefed up security around Lucky and Flo.

Malaysia, which figures on a U.S. watchlist on piracy, has dramatically stepped up efforts to rein in copyright pirates as it negotiates a free-trade pact with the United States.

The dogs are being trialed by Malaysian domestic-trade officials in a joint effort with the Motion Picture Association, which groups six major Hollywood film companies.

General Discussion / server migration coming soon
« on: March 27, 2007, 06:15:50 am »
okay so its been about 2 years, and my host will be migrating my account to a different server because my account needs to be updated.

same specs on the server hardware, but my account will allow me a little more flexibility, also the SQL server (which runs the database here) will be on a dedicated server cluster.. which is good.  also, the new server is in a different datacenter.. I believe New Jersey instead of Atlanta. Georgia..  which means it should be better connected to Europe. i did a bunch of trace routes to both the old server and the new one and I got better ping times for every country I tested except for China, and also my own ping is slightly higher.. haha, but I can live with it as long as the server as whole is more stable i'll be happy.

so in any case, please dont be alarmed if we experience any problems in the next 24-72 hours or so as the migration takes place. everything should be backed up so i'm not worried about losing anything, but there might be some random issues with SQL errors until I am able to go update all of the "scripts" (including Bit Che - Guevara Edition registration/unlocking) to use the new SQL servers...

thanks for understanding.

also, if anyone wants to test their pings:
dietk.com  (old datacenter)
hostingzoom.com  (new datacenter)

Scripts & Development / Bit Che - Site Script Screen Shot Database
« on: March 10, 2007, 10:39:53 am »
OK.. since many torrent sites have similar designs, it would be very helpful if we started making a database of the different sites along with a screen shot of a search, and possibly the name of the site's software (if available).

once we start collecting pictures of sites that we already have scripts for, it will be easier in the future to match up an existing script when making a script for a new site.

just to start us off, here is a screen shot of TorrentLeech.org

Computers - Technology / Temperature of a 7200rpm laptop hard drive
« on: February 27, 2007, 05:05:12 am »
ok, so i recently upgraded my 5400rpm drive to a 7200rpm and I am enjoying the speed increase however I've noticed that the drive is overheating to unsafe levels.. 50C+ (or 130-140F)..  which my 5400 never did. anyone ever use one of those laptop coolmats? i'm wondering if i should give that a try before i either get a different brand (currently Hitachi Travelstar, supposed to be good).. or if all else fails, going to put back in the 5400 i guess :(..   Vista is very very snappy now with the 7200 though.

Offbeat Relish / Viagra used to save baby's life
« on: February 15, 2007, 11:19:15 am »
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/tyne/6366693.stm

Viagra has been used by doctors on Tyneside as a last resort to save the life of a premature baby.
Lewis Goodfellow was born at 24 weeks weighing just 1lb 8oz. One of his lungs had failed and not enough oxygen was able to get into his bloodstream.

His parents feared he may not survive and had even begun planning a funeral.

Doctors at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary then tried Sildenafil, also known under the trade name of Viagra, and Lewis is now home with his parents.

Parents Jade Goodfellow and John Barclay, from Walker, Newcastle believe the drug - more usually associated with anti-impotence - saved his life.

Ms Goodfellow said: "Doctors said he couldn't be given any more oxygen.

"They were just clutching at straws basically. They explained it was experimental and may not have any effect at all."

Alan Fenton, consultant neonatologist at the hospital, said: "The problem we see in premature babies with breathing difficulties is although we can blow oxygen into their lungs to help them, there isn't enough blood supply to various areas of the lungs to take the oxygen around the rest of the body.

"What Sildenafil does is open up the blood vessels so they can capture the oxygen and take it around the body."

Lewis was born in August 2006 and was finally allowed home in January, to the delight of his parents.

His mother said: "I don't think you could put into words how we feel.

"The doctors are worth their weight in gold. We admire each and every one of them for what they have done."
