I don't know if any of you guys go here, but lately I've been visiting this pretty cool electronics website that seems to come out with the latest news regarding gadgets and computer stuff.

They also have a site for cars, and for macs.

Gaming / HL2 mods?
« on: April 25, 2007, 02:06:47 pm »
Anyone play HL2 or CS:source here?

A few months ago I played a lot of Synergy. It's a co-op mod for HL2. Totally free. You and your friends can get together and totally own zombies and other enemies with some pretty intensive and puzzling missions.

Goldeneye looks interesting but I haven't played it yet (finishing up finals with school, then i'm free for the summer!)

Does anybody play any other mods?

Don't worry there are no pics, but just reading the biography was enough for me!

This man has to be one of the most mentally sick people I have ever heard of.

Anyone seen Hannibal?   ;D

General Discussion / I Finally Got Caught - HELP
« on: March 19, 2007, 09:25:44 am »
Since the beginning of Napster I've been downloading music and then later movies.

For the first time, today I received a letter from my ISP explaining that I had got caught downloading moives from Paramount Pictures. I'm going to scan a copy of the letter later today.

It was using BitTorrent, uTorrent more specifically.

Has anyone ever gotten a letter like this? I'd like to hear your situation. I want to find a way I can continue downloading without getting caught again. From what I can tell this letter is only a warning.

I've never had a problem with Comcast at my house in Boston, MA. This happened to me in my apartment in Worcester, MA, with Charter Communications as the ISP. I've had them as my ISP for almost a year now and I've been using BT since I've had it.

Computers - Technology / Stupid Windows!
« on: February 28, 2007, 10:41:03 am »
sometimes it happens when I hover my house over an icon in the system tray, the bubble message that pops up is behind the start bar. This has happened for as long as I can remember. It usually corrects itself, but does anyone know the cause of this? Am I doing something really stupid or is it really a bug in windows? I haven't been able to come up with the exact steps to create the bug it seems to happen randomly.

If anyone doesn't know what i'm talking about i've attached a screenshot. It happens sometimes with the date too.

Computers - Technology / OpenSuseXGL

I saw that TheHalf mentioned this in another thread. How is it different than the old Suse? I used to be a big fan of Suse but I always ended up going back to Windows because of simplicity and compatability.

Music - Movies - TV / Most Overrated Movie Ever
« on: January 02, 2007, 04:25:08 pm »
The Boondock Saints.

I've seen this movie and I think it's pretty good. I don't understand why everyone has this listed in their favorite movies on myspace/facebook. This is probably the most common favorite movie of recent years.

What is so good about it? It looked just like an average movie to me.

P2P - Filesharing / RSS downloader
« on: November 15, 2006, 03:57:50 am »
I don't have the FX channel so I download the nip/tuck episode every week. I would like to find an RSS downloader so my client downloads it automatically whenever it comes out (that's what an RSS feed is..right?)

Does anyone know how to find RSS feeds to set something like this up?

P2P - Filesharing / UseNeXT?
« on: October 29, 2006, 10:25:30 am »
I noticed on the download page on the uTorrent website they have a link for this program called UseNeXT.

Does anyone use this or know what it does? It looks sketchy, but why would uTorrent have a link for it?

P2P - Filesharing / alternative to eDonkey?
« on: October 08, 2006, 02:38:13 am »
as many of you know, the edonkey2000 client was recently discontinued after encountering some more legal problems.

I was a big fan of this client, obviously not for speed but for it's ability to find super rare files. I think we can all agree that the eDonkey/Overnet network had more files than any other network. It was poorly designed and was pretty slow, but after a couple hours or days of downloading I could always find super rare trance tracks that I'm looking for.

Does anyone use eMule, eMule Plus, eMule xTreme, Shareaza, or any other edonkey clients? I'm having a hard time finding one that works well because there are so many options.

I would gladly ditch the eDonkey network if I found another one with the amount of files that it has to offer. Gnutella definitely cannot stand up, and BitTorrent is certainly not an alternative (since it's mainly for large, somewhat popular files)
